Bowles and Kerry numbers not so good; down 6 and 10, respectively. Hopefully Bowles can rally -- he's got some good ads on right now. Hugh Shelton, King Burr , and the breast cancer survivor, all of which are pretty strong ads. Bowles has to pull this one out.
Speaking of ads, I love Bev Perdue's chicken ads. Thoughts?

I'm shocked that with news of a widening gap in the presidential race, that the Kerry-Edwards campaign will send John Edwards back to NC for one last visit. I'd imagine that it's an effort to boost Bowles' candidacy.
Also, the Burr-Bowles race should dispel entirely any suggestions that negative campaigning doesn't work--clearly, it does.
I wish it were posted online, but the newest ad from the Bowles campaign is by far the best Bowles attack ad of the campaign.
I don't think there's ever been a theory that negative campaigning doesn't work. Of course it does. Anyone who doesn't believe that is stupid.
Stupid was the wrong word to use there, and I hit publish instead of preview.
What I meant to say was this --- anyone who doesn't believe negative campaigning works is fooling himself.
Going negative hurts both the candidate who uses the tactic and the person the tactic is directed against. But it hurts the person being targeted a lot more. The only way to counter a negative ad is to hit back fast and to hit back hard. Bowles didn't do that. For what seemed like an eternity, his campaign was silent. He just didn't have any ads on the air. That's a disasterous choice.
